Dubai-Based Naila Kiani Becomes Second Pakistani Woman to Scale Everest

A Pakistani woman living in Dubai has successfully summited Mount Everest, becoming the second Pakistani woman to summit the world’s highest peak at 8,848 meters.

Naila Kiani, a banker, and mother of two, reached the summit at 8:02 am on Sunday, May 14th.

She is also the first international climber to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 2023.

Naila shared her sentiments on the achievement saying, “There is no better feeling than being on top of the mountain, holding the flag of your country, and making the whole nation proud.”

Kiani achieved five summits of more than 8,000 meters in less than two years by summiting Everest. She was the first Pakistani woman to climb Mount Annapurna 1, the world’s 10th tallest mountain, which is located in Nepal’s Gandaki area.

In 2021, she summited the 8,035-meter Gasherbrum-II and in July 2022, Kiani summited the world’s second-highest mountain climbed Gasherbrum-I.

Samina Baig was the first female mountaineer from Pakistan to reach the summit, accomplishing the achievement in 2013.
